We'll meet at the designated time in Plaza Sotomayor to kick off this walking tour through Valparaíso, following in Pablo Neruda's footsteps as we explore the corners of the city that inspired his writing and fueled his love of the sea.
First, we'll ride the Ascensor Peral up to Cerro Alegre, where we'll get our first views of the city and the port. From Paseo Yugoslavo, we'll take in the open bay, the very horizon that appears in the poet's verses. We'll then head down the Bevestrello Stairs and walk through Pasaje Gálvez, soaking up the bohemian atmosphere Neruda loved so much.
From there, we'll continue to Paseo Atkinson, where we'll see Victorian colonial architecture along with the Lutheran and Anglican churches, both pillars of the immigrant influence on Valparaíso's identity.
The next stops will take us to Cerro Concepción and the Ascensor Reina Victoria, the city's cultural and culinary hub, lined with cozy cafés and restaurants.
